It was during my recovery from the Slap Cheek Virus a couple of years ago, that I learned about the amazing benefits of rebounding.

It is strangely wonderful how some of the best things in my life have shown up during my worst experiences and my beloved rebounder is one of them.

For those of you who don’t know, a rebounder is a mini-trampoline that is built for fitness purposes.

Unfortunately as a result of the virus, my lymph system became congested and stagnant and I needed to find a way to stimulate the flow of my lymph fluid again; to rid my body of the accumulated toxins, in order for me to heal. My normal exercise routine was just not doing the trick!

Your immune system is your ultimate protector and it is incredibly complex. Your body has many lines of defence to rid itself of toxins and a critical detoxing component of your immune system is your lymphatic system.

So, with my lymph system needing a serious kick start, I stepped on to my new rebounder and our love affair began…

Something magical is bound to happen when 75 trillion cells are flexing nearly 100 times per minute! In just a few days the changes in my body were staggering. My health improved dramatically and I felt alive!!

Rebounding creates an increased G-force resistance or gravitational load and positively stresses every cell in your body. How amazing is that?

It helps build muscle and bone and strengthens your entire musculoskeletal system, massages your organs, increases your heart rate, deepens your breathing, clears your head, centres you and improves your balance and promotes lymphatic circulation by stimulating the millions of one-way valves in your lymphatic system.

Ten minutes on a rebounder is equivalent to a 30 minute jog, without any strain on your joints. Apparently it is 68% more effective than running on a treadmill and provides a twenty fold increase in your lymphatic activity. Yes please!!

Another reason why I love rebounding so much is because it is very low impact and allows you to exercise for much longer intervals that you could on solid ground. I have never enjoyed running, but absolutely love running on my rebounder! Low impact is key!

Buying a quality rebounder is important, as some manufacturers use weak steel springs or bungee cords that lead to sinking and pronation of your feet and knees. This can lead to serious injuries. It is worthwhile doing your homework and investing in a quality rebounder.

For the past 10 years or so I have been trying to find a form of exercise that could become part of my life on a daily basis without any hassle.

Being able to fit my rebounding around my schedule and exercising in the comfort of my own home is such a big plus. I no longer need to worry about finding a babysitter or the weather forecast!

So each morning, without fail (being a creature of habit), I eagerly step on to my rebounder and feel significantly different when I don’t.

Rebounding has changed my life and I highly recommend it.
